This vintage birdcage was actually an old worn, brown drab color, when I found it. So I gave it multiple coats
(darn little dowel rods) of white paint.
So I was thinking little girls room or shabby chic kind of decor, something delicate. Out comes the pinks!
Had this great old vintage rosebud wallpaper
that I've been dying to use and it worked perfect for lining the bottom of the birdcage.
And, Oh look, a ounce of those 5lbs of vintage buttons might come in handy - and I used a whole whopping 3 of them! Two for the handles & one for the center of the flower.
Tore apart a raggedy vintage dollie to get to those awesome rose florals an leaf pieces to cover that awkward circle up on the arch. Trimmed out the arch and the levels in pink bias tape and pearls.
And wa-la goodbye ugly old bird cage!
I love the transformations! Loved the old sewing box, love this too. I have a vintage bamboo bird cage; and, it has a very noisy blue parakeet residing within…when the bird 'flys the coop"…I know what I'll do my my vintage cage! woo hoot….I bet painting all those little dowels was fun ~ did you spray it or hand paint it? I'd probably spray…
ReplyDeletelove looking at your junkeyard treasures. bev
Hi Bev,
ReplyDeleteI've had quite a few birds in the past...parakeet, mynah, african grey & gulfin which was pawned off to me as a cockatoo. As beautiful as they are they can be nerve wracking at times. Especially the mynah - we always fought in the morning :)
Oh my, Yes I sprayed - No way would I paint all those - urgh! Glad it inspired you, not that I want the little blue guy to get booted out of his home!
